So Many Different Types of Massage
Which is Best for You?
- Reiki massage enhances the body's natural ability to heal itself and provides relieve from spiritual, mental, physical or emotional pain. It works with your body to release energy that is blocked, promoting relaxation and reducing stress. Reiki works with you to restore energetic balance and repair things like blockages in your energy field.
- Deep Tissue Massage is beneficial when there is chronic muscle tension or injury. Bands of painful, rigid tissue called adhesions form in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation. Deep tissue massage physically breaks down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist often uses direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles
- Hot Stone Massage places water-treated stones at specific sites on the client's body promoting relaxation and helping to open up the energy pathways known as meridians. Muscles are pretreated with the heated stones to allow the therapist to more easily perform deep tissue manipulations. Cool stones are sometimes used alternately with hot stones.
- Acupressure Massage also known as shiatsu, uses techniques like tapping, squeezing, rubbing, and applied pressure to unblock energy and reintroduce the optimal flow of energy. It is a finger pressure massage technique.
- Craniosacral Massage therapy deals with the bones of the head, spinal column, sacrum and the underlying structures. It uses a very light touch and a gentle, precise technique to release restrictions and compression in these areas. The therapist will assist the natural movement and release of energy restrictions to help the body self correct.
