A Facial is More than Just Pretty Skin

Many of my facial clients report back to me after their treatment and I love hearing from them. Of course, I am keenly aware of the benefits of a facial and I’ll talk about them a bit here. But the comment that comes up from their side of the treatment table after a facial is usually how their facial makes them feel afterward.

“It’s not just the way my face feels when I touch it,” says one of my long-timers. “I think it’s how amazingly relaxed I am. While I’m on your table, I often focus on my breathing. I can feel the tension in my arms melting away under the sheets. It’s about so much more than beautiful skin. Because when I apply makeup and go out the next day, I’m more confident, too.”

That’s why getting a facial is not only relaxing and rejuvenating; it’s also great for the mind. Monthly facials help to support your at-home skincare program to achieve the healthiest skin possible. Ever think about doing this every month? Here are a few benefits to it.

  • Increased circulation: A facial helps to renew skin cells by circulating the blood flow under the skin. That decreases puffiness and alleviates fluid buildup that comes from our lymphatic system. Good circulation brings oxygen,  proteins, and nutrition to the skin while ridding your skin of toxins.
  • Cleansing — on steroids: While we like to think our daily skin cleaners are getting deep down into our pores, they don’t go as deep as you’d think. Ever notice how many times I cleanse your face before even thinking about adding emollients? Getting a facial helps remove the build-up of oil and dirt that an everyday cleanser cannot.
  • Slowing down the effects of aging: Did you know that by increasing the circulation in your face, the cell turnover rate helps to slow down the aging process? A monthly facial massage stimulates collagen production and strengthens the muscles in your face, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in softer, smoother skin.
  • Soothing the mind: As I said, getting a facial is not only relaxing to the face but also to the mind.

Facials are done ideally every 4 weeks, but every 5-6 weeks works too. Set the next appointment before you leave, and we are good to go. And if you can’t remember the last time you had a facial treatment now is the time. Our favorites are the  Replenishing Facial, the Revitalizing Facial, or the Healing and Relaxing Facial, which includes a foot treatment.

Beautifully yours,
